CPC Raises Over $90,000 at the CPC Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit to Support Local Communities

New York, NY Last night, the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), the nation’s largest Asian American social services organization, held its Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit at the New Phoenix Seafood Restaurant and honored Brooklyn leaders who have made significant contributions to the community. The benefit raised more than $90,000 to support CPC's mission of uplifting and empowering generations of Asian American, immigrant, and low-income communities. All proceeds will further the organization’s efforts to provide individuals with opportunities to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

More than 500 guests, including philanthropic, business, government, and nonprofit leaders, attended to celebrate the honorees and the positive impact CPC has had in Brooklyn.

“As we celebrate over 45 years of transformative programs through CPC Brooklyn Community Services, I am deeply grateful for the support from our community members, partners, donors, and government leaders,” said Wayne Ho, President and CEO of CPC. “This benefit showcases the collective strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to creating a lasting impact on the lives of over 20,000 Brooklyn residents every day."

CPC Brooklyn Community Services offers a wide range of support to over 20,000 residents through various programs and community events. These services include support in benefits, legal immigration, language access, workforce development, and youth services. Notably, the Services for Families with Special Needs program connected 30 families to community resources, while Older Adult Mental Health Services program provided screenings and counseling to over 300 older adults. Additionally, the Office for New Americans Opportunity Center assisted with 296 USCIS immigration applications.

“The Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the community and the people who make this community thrive. I am overjoyed to acknowledge and honor five incredible leaders. Congratulations and thank you to each of them for their contributions!” said Steve Mei, Director of CPC Brooklyn Community Services.

This year’s event honored five outstanding individuals: Cristina Gonzalez, Principal of PS 94; Kin Ng, Bureau Chief at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office; Dr. Qingliang Tony Wang, Director of the Jaffe Comprehensive Stroke Center at Maimonides Medical Center; and Lawrence and Teresa Wu, Owners of Peking Food LLC.

The success of this benefit and CPC’s programs is made possible by the generosity of sponsors and partners. Their support empowers CPC to continue making a profound impact in the community.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do to grow and empower local economies. It’s clear that CPC shares this mission in their efforts to help Asian American, immigrant, and low-income communities to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. Earlier this year, we were honored to support CPC in unveiling a community kitchen as part of their new Manhattan home, and part of our ongoing work together to address food insecurity and making sure anyone who needs a meal has one. We congratulate CPC on all the work they have done over the last five decades to help those in need and look forward to all we can achieve together in the years ahead,” said Kassandra Perez-Desir, Head of government affairs DoorDash.
