CPC Joins Stop the Hate Press Conference with Council Member Gibson

On April 7th, CPC joined Council Member Vanessa Gibson's Stop the Hate press conference at Lou Gehrig Plaza in the Bronx.

Soar Over Hate Equips Seniors at Hong Ning with Safety Materials

On April 8th, Michelle Tran, a Mount Sinai medical student, and her 8th grade Apex for Youth mentee, Tiffany Yuen, fundraised money to purchase and distribute safety alarms and printed booklets about responding and reporting hate crimes for seniors. Their initiative, which they have named Soar Over Hate, aims to equip vulnerable Asian elderly, women, and LGBTQ+ in NYC with self-defense materials to make them feel more safe walking around the city.

CPC Staff and Community Members Meet with NYC Council Members for 4th Annual City Advocacy Day

On April 14th, CPC held its 4th Annual City Advocacy Day,  meeting with 20 City Council Members and their staff. CPC staff and community members discussed how CPC has been supporting our communities during COVID-19, why it is critical that we fund our programs and human services staff, the increase in AAPI hate, and how we need to invest in AAPI's long term healing and recovery.  The day concluded with a press conference with six legislators speaking.
