CPC Cook for a Cause: Cola Chicken Wings and Tofu Salad with Amelie Kang of MáLà Project

As a part of the CPC COVID-19 Relief Fund campaign, CPC hosted their second cooking demonstration of the two part series for the Cook For a Cause virtual fundraiser with Amelie Kang of MáLà Project on August 1st.

CPC Project Gateway Host Annual College Send-Off Event

On August 5th, CPC Project Gateway: College Connect and EastBridge Foundation hosted its annual College Send-Off Fair to congratulate graduating high school seniors on their achievements, as well as to provide them with resources in their transition to college. This year, the two-hour event was held virtually on Zoom, bringing together 30+ incoming college students and 11 current college students. Discussions and activities were led by the College Advisory Council of PG:CC, a group of five interns who helped facilitate the event.

Essential Worker Highlight: Annette Montalvo, Director of CPC’s Hospitality Careers Training Program

Two weeks ago, we kicked off our essential workers campaign. This week focuses on Annette Montalvo, Director of CPC Hospitality Careers Training Program and Deputy Director of CPC Queens Community Center. A veteran of the hospitality industry, Annette has assisted generations of community members in gaining the skills they need to find long-term employment.

Two members of CPC Leadership Council, Chris Kuo and Lena Chang, who works as a nurse practitioner at Mount Sinai Union Square and Mount Sinai Beth Israel, discussed what it's been like working at a hospital during a pandemic and the rise in discriminatory and hateful acts towards Asians.
