CPC’s 59th Annual Lunar New Year Benefit Raises Over $393,000 to Empower Asian American, Immigrant, and Low-income Communities
New York, NY – The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) held its 59th Annual Lunar New Year Benefit on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the House of Joy banquet hall in Chinatown. With a total of over $393,000 raised, these funds will directly support CPC’s services to empower and uplift over 80,000 Asian American, immigrant, and low-income communities annually in New York City.
As CPC’s largest fundraising event, this year’s benefit brought together nearly 400 philanthropic, corporate, government, and community leaders to celebrate the Year of the Dragon and honor exceptional individuals for their contributions and dedication to the community.
“Our Lunar New Year Benefit not only raises funds for essential services to Asian American, immigrant, and low-income New Yorkers but also strengthens community bonds through our shared commitment to creating positive change in society,” said Wayne Ho, President & CEO of CPC. “Congratulations to all the honorees for their impactful contributions. We extend our sincerest gratitude to our sponsors, partners, and honorees for their unwavering support that empowers us to drive our mission forward.”
The Honorees of the Year Award was received by Ken L. Fong and Frances Onne-Fong, founders of F2 Consulting Group Inc. The firm's primary focus is advising start-up ventures and founding partners in early-stage financing and capital raising. It has provided advisory services across industries, including financial insurance guarantee, healthcare, hospitality and entertainment. Frances' connection with CPC dates back to her college years when she volunteered as a tutor in its after-school program. She was deeply impressed by the program's contributions to the Chinatown community.
“We wish to thank the Chinese-American Planning Council for this prestigious award and congratulate our fellow honorees, Pat Wang and Belinda Liang. Further, we acknowledge CPC’s 59 years of outstanding leadership and service to the Chinese American community. It is an outstanding achievement,” said Ken L. Fong and Frances Onne-Fong, founders of F2 Consulting Group Inc.

Under her leadership since 2008,Healthfirst has grown to become one of the largest not-for-profit health insurance providers in the country, providing health insurance to more than 1.8 million New Yorkers. Her commitment to the Healthfirst-CPC relationship is reflected in the ongoing collaboration on outreach initiatives aimed at educating the community about health and wellness and expanding access to health insurance.
“I am honored to receive the Corporate Responsibility Award from the Chinese-American Planning Council,” said Pat Wang, President and CEO of Healthfirst. “For more than 30 years, Healthfirst has ensured that Corporate Social Responsibility is embedded in all our organizational efforts and we actively support the elimination of barriers to optimal health outcomes. “I am deeply humbled and honored to receive the CPC Service Star Award. While I am grateful for this recognition, I firmly believe this achievement is a product of team effort. It is because of a team that we can empower high school students to excel in their academics, navigate the college application process, secure their first jobs, and ultimately achieve their goals. Therefore, I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to and celebrate this achievement with my team at New Utrecht High School, colleagues at ECS, partners within CPC, and lastly to a community that has taught me to be passionate about youth development.
