[New York, NY] December 9, 2016 - The Boards of Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (“CPC”), and its affiliates and associated entities*, are pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Ho as President and Chief Executive Officer. He will assume his new role on January 17, 2017.

“After a comprehensive national search, we are excited to welcome Wayne Ho as our chief executive, leading us through our growth as the premier Asian American social services agency in the U.S. and evolution as the Model Service and Leadership Development Organization.  Janice Won, Interim President and CEO, has infused leadership capacity and strengthened our infrastructure in many ways.  She will ensure a seamless transition to Wayne who will lead at the helm in collaboration with highly committed and dedicated boards of directors and staff,” said Jenny Low, CPC Board Chair.

”I am excited and humbled to be joining a distinguished organization like the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. For 51 years, CPC has been on the forefront of serving New York City’s Asian American and immigrant communities.  Working with the supportive board and dynamic staff, I look forward to building on CPC’s history and accomplishments in order to achieve the vision of being a Model Service and Leadership Development Organization.” said Wayne Ho, incoming President and CEO.

Most recently, Wayne served as Chief Strategy and Program Officer for The Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies (“FPWA”), an association of 200 community and faith-based member agencies aiming to promote the social and economic well-being of underserved New Yorkers. He was responsible for expanding policy advocacy, capacity building and faith-rooted organizing initiatives to achieve FPWA’s strategic plan. During his tenure, FPWA has advocated successfully for a funded $15 per hour minimum wage for City contracted social services nonprofit workers, grew the number of trainings and grants to member agencies, and increased its budget by 45%. From 2004-2013, Wayne was the Executive Director for the pan-Asian children’s advocacy organization, Coalition for Asian American Children and Families which collaborated with other organizations to successfully pass policies to improve language access, reduce bias-based harassment in schools, baseline funding for community-based child abuse prevention programs, and increased discretionary funding for the Asian Pacific American community. Additionally, Wayne has taught leadership and management courses at New York University and University of California at Berkeley. He was recognized by the City and State as a 40 Under 40 New York City Rising Star in 2014 and was one of 10 leaders invited to meet with President Obama during the White House’s Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration in 2011. He serves on numerous boards, including the board of Coro New York Leadership Center, and is appointed to several New York City and State advisory boards. Wayne received his Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley and his Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
