  • CPC Housing Residents Connect Through the Art of Tea

    On September 26th, residents from CPC Hong Ning Housing and CPC Norfolk Senior Housing participated in the Golden Tea biweekly workshop series. The series, which began in August and will conclude in January, is facilitated by our partners at Tea Arts and Culture. These sessions create multi-sensory, social tea experiences that help older adults connect with each other through the art of tea while enjoying varieties from around the world. The facilitators provide opportunities for conversation, storytelling, and shared enriching learning experiences.

    On September 26th, The Hill published a joint op-ed by CPC and the New York City Employment and Training Coalition (NYCETC) addressing the affordability crisis in New York City. The piece illustrates that resolving the crisis requires more than just housing subsidies—it also requires investment in higher wages that keep pace with the cost of living, career pathways to middle-class jobs with real mobility, and opportunities for building long-term wealth and stability.

The list recognizes the most influential individuals in the region for their commitment, impact and influence in the community. At CPC, she provides executive leadership, shapes the organization’s communications strategy, and oversees messaging across multiple platforms.

  • CPC Hosts Annual Family Day Fair

    On September 21st, CPC’s Manhattan Community Services hosted the annual Family Day Fair and brought together hundreds of families for a day of interactive games and activities. More than 20 partner agencies participated and provided information on health, wellness, and social services available to community members. This celebration not only emphasized the importance of quality family time but also strengthened the bonds within our community.

  • Julio Peña III Honored as a Latino Trailblazer by City and State

    On September 15th, Julio Peña III Director of CPC Project Reach, was recognized in City and State’s inaugural Latino Trailblazers list. The list celebrates Latino leaders that have already blazed a trail in many other arenas, from health care to major philanthropies to startups. Julio oversees youth development programs as well as LGBTQ+ and antidiscrimination workshops, advancing opportunities for youth of all backgrounds. Separately, as a Democratic district leader in Sunset Park and Red Hook and as chair of Brooklyn Community Board 7, he has championed equity, inclusion and youth engagement.

  • CPC Hosts the Annual Health & Resource Fair Focused on Community Wellness

    On September 13th, CPC Brooklyn Community Services held a Health & Family Resource Fair at Leif Ericson Park, serving over 1,000 community members. The event emphasized that prevention is the first line of defense for staying healthy, especially as families face the pressures of a rising cost of living. To alleviate this burden, the fair provided resources including children’s books, backpack giveaways, vaccine shots, fresh produce, and raffle prizes. The day also featured cultural and wellness activities such as Taichi, Taekwondo, and dance performances.

  • CPC Partners with Caribbean Equality Project to Advocate for LGBTQIA+ Youth

    On September 9th, CPC and the Caribbean Equality Project presented a workshop at the 4th Annual Governor’s LGBTQIA+ Convening in Albany. The session centered on the unique experiences of AAPI communities and explored policy solutions and community-led strategies to address healthcare disparities in New York State. Gilbert Wu, Director of Community Health Services, and Samantha Kombel, Health Educator Supervisor, represented CPC. They highlighted the need for holistic care, increased mental health resources, equitable funding, and improved data collection to serve youth effectively.

  • CPC Welcomes Daniel Ho to its Board of Directors

    CPC is excited to announce the election of Daniel Ho to its Board of Directors. Daniel Ho is a Partner at Apollo, where he oversees Asset Management for the Commercial Real Estate Credit business. Prior to joining Apollo, Daniel served as Head of Asset Management for CRE Lending at Morgan Stanley and held leadership roles at Jaguar Growth Partners, Fortress Investment Group, Voras Capital Management, and Och-Ziff Capital Management.

  • CPC Joins Assemblywoman Rozic's Family Fun Day

    On August 24th, CPC Queens Community Services tabled at Assemblywoman Nily Rozic's Annual Family Fun Day in Cunningham Park. The event, which drew a crowd of over 1,000 community members, provided an opportunity for CPC to connect with local families. The CPC team shared information on key programs and resources at the booth. They further engaged attendees with popular hands-on activities, including button-making and crown-making classes.

  • CPC and GrowNYC Partner to Distribute Local Produce to the Community

    On August 22nd, CPC partnered with GrowNYC to host a food distribution event for over 250 community members at CPC Brooklyn Community Services. Volunteers from both organizations packed and distributed bags filled with a variety of seasonal offerings, including carrots, apples, tomatoes, and other farm-fresh items. This initiative has been running every other week since the summer. It addresses food insecurity challenges, especially for older adults, and supports local agriculture.
