Chinatown Older Adult Center Rings in the New Year
January 6, 2025
On January 6th, CPC Chinatown Older Adult Center celebrated the New Year with more than 300 community members. Members from the Tai Chi and Folk Dance classes performed for all guests. As a special treat, each member received a bag of bakery goods as a New Year gift and participated in a raffle drawing.

CPC is pleased to present our 2024 Annual Report. The theme, “Celebrating Our Legacy, Inspiring the Future,” honors the rich history and hard work of those who laid the foundation of CPC while also looking forward to new efforts that will empower future generations to reach new heights. As we look forward to 2025, we are excited to celebrate our 60th anniversary. This milestone will celebrate six decades of service and advocacy across New York City and set the stage for increasing our impact among community members.

Education and Career Services Hosts Holiday Party for Project Gateway College Alumni

On December 31st, CPC Education and Career Services held a holiday party for over 80 alumni from Project Gateway. The event featured a chorus group performance, followed by a career panel with professionals from diverse fields such as public relations, non-profits, and dance. This gathering provided valuable networking opportunities for students entering the job market. Attendees also learned about CPC's advocacy efforts at the conclusion of the event.

Childhood Development Services Team Spread Holiday Cheer with Santa Visits, Gifts, and Family Fun

CPC Early Childhood Centers and School-Age Child Care Centers celebrated the holiday season with our children and their families. Santa Claus made surprise visits to hand out presents, while the children enjoyed arts and crafts activities and delicious meals. Warm holiday wishes were shared across all centers. Thank you to the staff for spreading joy and to the donors for their generous holiday presents.

CPC Contributes to Study on Mental Health Among AANHPI Youth

CPC participated in the Advancing AANHPI Youth's Mental Health study by the Institute for Population Health Sciences, with Judy Ah-Yune, Director of CPC Manhattan Community Services, serving as one of the interviewees in the stakeholder interviews. The research sheds light on the severe mental health challenges faced by AANHPI youth in the U.S. Despite bearing some of the highest mental health burdens, this group has the lowest healthcare utilization and help-seeking behaviors.

On December 21st, Epoch Times covered the Winter Festival Celebration hosted by CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center (OAC) at the Royal Queen Restaurant in Flushing. The event drew over 500 community members, elected officials, and partners, who enjoyed a delicious dim sum brunch, live performances, and exciting prizes, including shopping carts and gift cards.

On December 18th, World Journal featured the “Heartwarming Christmas Charity Action” hosted by CPC Open Door Older Adult Center at the House of Joy restaurant. Over 350 older adults, representatives from the Department for the Aging, staff, and community partners gathered for the celebration. There were Christmas carols, prize giveaways, and delicious Chinese food for everyone to enjoy.

CPC Partners with Mayor's Office to Support IDNYC Applications
December 12, 2024
On December 12th, CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center launched a new collaboration with the NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) to assist older adults in obtaining an IDNYC card. Many older adults expressed interest in applying but found the process challenging. Through this partnership, MOIA offers linguistically accessible support, with a CPC team member available on-site at the Queens Community Center to guide applicants through the process, making it the application process easier and more inclusive for community members.
