On March 31st, CPC Nan Shan Senior Center hosted an introductory workshop on Asian painting with New York City artist Jin Yong Choi for our members. This workshop was organized as part of the "What Can We Do?" initiative, which aims to support 30 artists and their creative endeavors that demonstrate care for the AAPI community in New York City, in response to the surge in anti-Asian hate and violence during the pandemic.

Nan Shan Senior Center has been chosen as one of several organizations to be part of this round.

The art session commenced with Mr. Choi demonstrating simple brushstrokes to depict grass and orchids. As the session progressed, he gradually moved on to more complex illustrations such as human figures and mountain landscapes.
