CPC Shares Civic Engagement Strategies at CISANI Conference in Toronto

From June 6th-9th, CPC attended the CISANI (Chinese Immigrant Service Agencies Network International) Conference in Toronto, with this year's focus on civic engagement. This annual event that brings together member organizations to address the needs and challenges facing Chinese immigrants, and sharing ideas, resources, and best practices. Wayne Ho, CPC President and CEO, spoke on a panel to share how CPC has addressed civic engagement through citizenship classes, voter registration and mobilization, organizing staff and community members, and policy advocacy.

CPC Queens Hosts Bilingual FEAT Pilot to Empower Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

On June 6-7th, the CPC Queens Special Needs Program hosted a bilingual pilot session of the Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT) for over 20 participants. FEAT aims to provide employment information such as benefits, incentives, and available resources. The session featured employment success stories shared by participants and included employment support from nine local agencies.

CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center Honors Dragon Boat Festival with Zongzi Making Contest

On June 5th, CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with a Zongzi (rice dumplings) making contest. The Dragon Boat Festival, known for its dragon boat races and the delicious rice dumplings, commemorates the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan for his patriotism to his people and country. Community members came together and showcased their skills and love for cultural traditions.

CPC Hosts Benefit to Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Honor Community Leaders

On May 29th, CPC held the Queens Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month Benefit at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Drawing over 400 philanthropic, corporate, government, and community leaders, the event celebrated the power of the AAPI community and raised vital funds for CPC's impactful programs and services for 20,000 Queens residents. Three distinguished Queens leaders were honored at the benefit for their dedication to the community: Donovan Richards Jr, Queens Borough President; Austin F. Cheng, Esq., Chief Executive Officer of the Gramercy Surgery Center; and Vivian Young, Global Head of Asian & Pacific Islander Affairs at JPMorgan Chase.

CPC Thanks Supporters at Donor Reception for Successful CPC One Naming Campaign

On May 22nd, CPC held a Donor Reception event to acknowledge and express gratitude who supported the CPC One Naming Campaign, the most successful fundraising effort in our 59-year history, raising over $2.2 million. These funds brought CPC One from vision to reality. CPC One includes a state-of-the-art community center serving over 15,000 community members annually, along with more than 200 units of affordable housing for individuals and families, and an administrative headquarters for over 50 programs.

CPC Youth and Staff Join AIDS Walk New York 2024 to Support HIV and AIDS Programs

On May 19th, over 120 CPC youth and staff joined our Community Health Services team for AIDS Walk New York 2024, the world’s largest and most visible HIV and AIDS fundraising event. CPC joined thousands of walkers at Central Park for a four-mile walk, united by the common cause of sustaining Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC)’s vital programs to serve New Yorkers living with or affected by HIV and AIDS. The event also included free HIV testing, free food, dance performances.

CPC and South Brooklyn AAPI Organizations Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month
May 21, 2024
On May 18th, CPC joined State Senator Iwen Chu and AAPI-serving organizations in South Brooklyn at our Beacon Community Center to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. Over 300 attendees came together to enjoy performances, including Tae Kwon Do and traditional Indian dances. Community members also received a dim sum box to savor at home. Assembly Member Lester Chang, representatives from Comptroller Brad Lander and the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, and District Leader Nancy Tong also joined the event.
