City & State New York Highlights CPC’s Advocacy for Immigrant Protections at Somos Conference

On November 7th, City & State New York interviewed Carlyn Cowen, our Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer, at the Somos Conference in Puerto Rico about the policy initiatives and advocacy efforts focused on immigrant protections in New York following the presidential election. Carlyn emphasized the need for policies that provide housing, food assistance, and more, to ensure all people, regardless of immigration status, can thrive. They reiterated that these priorities will continue to drive CPC’s advocacy efforts as we work to ensure that New York remains a sanctuary state.

On November 6th, CPC released a statement on presidential election and reaffirmed our commitment to serving and empowering New York’s diverse communities, especially those who are undocumented, LGBTQ+, speakers of languages other than English, with disabilities, living with HIV/AIDS, and low-income. We will continue to be a safe, inclusive, and equitable space for all.

CPC Brooklyn Community Services Hosts Retreat in the Catskills

From November 1st through 3rd, CPC Brooklyn Community Services held a productive and refreshing 3-day, 2-night retreat at the Arnold House in the Catskills. The retreat brought together staff and their families, providing team-building opportunities and minimizing childcare challenges for parents. It included activities such as wellness and self-care workshops, policy training, and strategic planning sessions for the center.

Early Childhood Centers Celebrate Halloween with Festive Crafts, Costumes, and Treats

CPC’s early childhood centers embraced the Halloween spirit with exciting activities. Children at the Jacob Riis Early Childhood Center enjoyed crafting colorful masks and dressing up in their favorite costumes. Young artists at the Little Star Early Childhood Center created spooky decorations in their classrooms. Meanwhile, staff at the Lois C. Lee Early Childhood Center handed out treats to the children.

The CPC Technology Exploration & Skills Training (TEST) program has been revamped from previous initiatives and is officially underway. Our Meet & Greet event on Friday, October 18th marked a wonderful start, bringing together program participants and IBM mentors and representatives to the CPC One space.

CPC and our subsidiary, CPC Home Attendant Program (CPCHAP), have long histories as proud union agencies. Similar to our daycare workers with DC37 and school-age directors with CSA, we respect our home care workers’ continued election of 1199SEIU as their advocate and representative. We are in full support of home care workers in their call to end 24-hour shifts and to make two 12-hour split shifts universal.

Pershing, and Lafayette Educational Campus. The students enjoyed a day of art, music, fun activities, and delicious treats from various Latin American countries.
