Jr. NBA Basketball Camp at BasketBall City
This summer, BasketBall City generously offered over 50 scholarships to CPC youth to attend their premier summer basketball camp. Each scholarship is valued at $595 per participant, per week. BasketBall City is an Official Facility Partner of the Jr. NBA, and frequently brings on current and previous NBA players as guest instructors. This summer’s guest instructors included Walter “Clyde” Frazier (former Knicks NBA player), Kenneth Faried (current Denver Nuggets NBA player), and Brandon Jennings (current Shanxi Dragons CBA player).
At BasketBall City, our CPC youth participants were sorted into three age divisions: 6-9 year olds, 10-13 year olds, and 14-17 year olds. On Monday, campers are drafted into teams and play scrimmages matches against one another. From Tuesday through Thursday, campers sharpen their technique through various basketball drills and plays. Playoffs take place on Fridays, where teams of campers compete against other teams for the weekly Championships. The week concludes with an Award Ceremony on Friday afternoon, with other awards such as “Most Improved” and “MVP”.
We would like to highlight some of our CPC youth for receiving an award during their tenure at BasketBall City camp: Shu Ying Chen for “Best Shooting Form”, Rebecca Ho Yun for “Most Improved”, and Teddy Yip for “Best Defender”. We would like to applaud all of our CPC youth who took advantage of this scholarship opportunity this summer. On a day to day basis, campers thrived in an educational yet competitive environment designed to hone their technique and teamwork skills.
Last but not least, we would like to thank BasketBall City for giving our youth participants this exciting opportunity. CPC youth learned from some of the best instructors in the field, and got the chance to meet many other basketball lovers from outside of their communities. Participants and parents alike here at CPC are grateful for this generous opportunity, and we look forward to future collaborations with BasketBall City in the coming summers.
