Project Gateway Celebrates the Holiday with a College Panel and Escape-the-Room Experience!
CPC Project Gateway held an Escape-the-Holiday event on Sunday, December 22nd, 2019. Over 50 high school seniors and college students attended to learn and share college experiences through a panel discussion and participated in a unique team building adventure.
To celebrate the completion of the first semester of college, two 1st-year college mentees and one college mentor from PG: College Connect led a panel discussion about the challenges and expectations of college. There were a lot of valuable tips and advice on how to manage stress and how to make the most out of the first two weeks of classes before the workload increases by 200%. The most notable tips revolved around three points:
“ 1. Take advantage of college resources that are there to help you succeed.
2. Don’t be afraid to meet new people and network.
3. Learn to practice self-care.”
Following the panel discussion, students came together to celebrate through tackling an escape the room experienced that was planned and moderated by members of our College Advisory Council. Community members enjoyed tackling the holiday festive puzzles and riddles while working together or competing among their peers. Overall, the event was a fun way to reunite, and meet others who can share advice on succeeding in college.
