Celebrating Diversity during APIA Heritage Month
CPC President & CEO, Wayne Ho, spoke with Inspiring Diversity (iD) about the importance of Asian/Pacific Islander American (APIA) Heritage Month. APIA Heritage Month began in the 1970s to celebrate Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
"We at CPC, for over 52 years, were founded as an Asian American nonprofit. Of our 60,000 participants every year, over 1/3 come from different communities. We respectfully serve individuals from Latino populations, African American, black populations, from Jewish communities, Russian communities and we're able to do that because we're respectful of others. I think that's what's important during Asian American heritage month, recognizing that it's not just about the Asian American community, but it's that the Asian American community can build bridges not only across our different ethnic groups but we can build bridges with other racial groups and with other populations in the United States and in New York." said Mr. Ho.
