The Chinese American Planning Council’s Early Childhood Learning and Wellness Services program (CPC ECLW) is proud to announce the commencement of three new 120-hour Child Development Associate credential (CDA) courses in Chinese, English, and Spanish. These are a continuation of CPC ECLW’s efforts to improve the quality of child care in New York City, as well as one of CPC’s efforts to address the language barrier that separates New York’s non-English speaking communities from social and professional development services. Due to CPC ECLW’s partnership with the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and New York’s Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), CPC ECLW is presently the only organization that offers the 120-hour CDA course in Chinese.

The CDA credential is granted by the Council for Professional Recognition and is the most widely recognized mark of quality in Early Childhood Education. It is also mandatory for providers that seek to partake in the Department of Education’s proposed home-based 3-K for All Model. Thanks to CPC ECLW’s partnership with UFT and OCFS, tuition of $2,000 has been waived for students. The English and Chinese courses began on October 5, 2019, and the Spanish course will begin on November 16, 2019.
