CPC represents at the NYS Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Caucus Weekend
On February 17th, CPC joined the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus weekend to participate on panels about issues affecting communities of color in New York.
In the morning panel, sponsored by Assemblymember Niou, Assemblymember Kim, and Assemblymember Sepulveda, panelists discussed major policy issues communities of color face in New York State, such as the 2020 census, fair funding, criminal justice, and a racial equality proposal as a way to evaluate all legislation.
In the afternoon panel, sponsored by Assemblymember Perry, Assemblymember Jean-Pierre and Senator Stewart-Cousins, CPC represented the Strong Nonprofits for a Better New York campaign. Panelists discussed the challenges human services workers and organizations face, and how chronic underfunding and low wages in the human services sector disproportionately impact women and workers of color.
