CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center Celebrates the Year of the Dragon with Dim Sum Brunch

On March 8th, CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center held a Spring Festival Dim Sum brunch at the Royal Queen restaurant. Over 500 community members, staff, and elected officials came together to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. Elected officials, including Assembly Members Edward Braunstein and Ron Kim, Council Member Sandra Ung, Civil Court Judge Cassandra Johnson, and representatives from the offices of Congresswoman Grace Meng, Attorney General Tish James, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assembly Member Catalina Cruz, and Assembly Member Steven Raga, joined.

Wayne Ho Appears on NY1's In Focus With Cheryl Wills

On March 10th, CPC President & CEO Wayne Ho joined “In Focus With Cheryl Wills” on NY1 to discuss the positive effects of CPC’s learning labs in the Queens and Manhattan community centers. These labs benefit over 4,000 immigrants, youth, and older adults annually by providing resources such as English language learning and digital literacy classes. He also highlighted the importance of digital equity and internet access, particularly in areas like telehealth.

These priorities will ensure the continued support and empowerment of over 80,000 individuals and families as they pursue their goals in education, family, community, and career.

On March 6th, Wayne Ho, CPC's President and CEO, was featured in a recent article by The New York Times, highlighting the expansion of CPC programs to serve an additional 20,000 individuals over the past four years. Despite these efforts, challenges persist for the growing Chinese immigrant population in New York City, with hundreds remain on waiting lists for critical services such as adult literacy classes, mental health counseling, and support at older adult centers.

CPC’s 59th Annual Lunar New Year Benefit Raises Over $393,000 to Empower Communities

On February 29th, CPC held our 59th Annual Lunar New Year Benefit at the House of Joy banquet hall in Chinatown. We raised over $393,000 to empower and uplift over 80,000 Asian American, immigrant, and low-income New Yorkers annually through our core programs and services. Nearly 400 philanthropic, corporate, government, and community leaders gathered to celebrate the Year of the Dragon and honor exceptional individuals for their contributions and dedication to the community.

CPC Holds 6th Annual State Advocacy Day in Albany

On February 27th, CPC held its 6th Annual State Advocacy Day in Albany, followed by a virtual event on February 28th. Over 350 staff and community members gathered in Albany for discussions with over 50 elected officials regarding budget and legislative priorities aligned with the needs of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI), immigrant, and low-income communities. Key priorities highlighted include fully funding human services, investing in the AAPI Equity Budget, implementing a COLA for human services workers, increasing home care workers’ wages, and more.

Brooklyn Community Services Celebrates Lunar New Year With 1000 Guests

On February 24th, over 1000 community members, performers, and guests joined CPC Brooklyn Community Services’ annual Lunar New Year Celebration. The event featured performances, community resources, and raffle prizes. Elected officials, including State Senators Iwen Chu and Andrew Gounardes, and Council Member Alexa Avilés, and representatives from city agencies such as the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, NYC Commission on Human Rights, and NYC Civic Engagement Commission were also in attendance.

On February 12th, CPC attended the Lunar New Year Celebration hosted by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards at Queens Borough Hall. The event recognized Mitch Wu, Director of CPC Queens Community Services, and other distinguished AAPI leaders in Queens, for their impacts on the Queens community. The festivities also included an evening of food and cultural performances.
