On Thursday, May 23rd, CPC co-hosted a pop-up art exhibition at CPC One along with the NYC Commission on Human Rights (CCHR).

The showcase, in recognition of AAPI Heritage Month, highlighted artwork submitted by young AAPI artists including CPC community member Ramon Chen Wu and the Youth Community Project Team from the Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC), as well as curated pieces by former CCHR artist-in-residence Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya. We were joined by CCHR Chair and Commissioner Annabel Palma, Commissioner Rocky Chin, and community advocates, among others.

The Chinese-American Planning Council is excited to partner with the NYC Commission on Human Rights to highlight AAPI Heritage Month and the history of cross-racial solidarity in New York City,” said Wayne Ho, CPC President and CEO. “CPC was founded during the peak of the civil rights movement in the 1960’s, and the struggle for Asian American civil rights has always been inextricably intertwined with the fight for social and racial justice across Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in the walking tour and are honored to elevate the work of young, local AAPI artists and Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya at CPC One, our new intergenerational mixed-use development and headquarters. We look forward to our continued partnership with the NYC Commission on Human Rights to promote inclusion and equity for individuals of all racial, ethnic, gender, sexual, and immigrant identities.
