Students from the CPC LEAD (Learn.Dream.Advocate.Lead) at the High School for Dual Language and Asian Studies went to see the Lion King on Broadway over Spring Break.

Leading up to the event, members of the chorus program, sponsored by Trinity Church Music Foundation, spent the last few weeks learning one of the main songs of the musical, He Lives In You. Staff could hear our young singers following along with the actors during the show and students said they felt more connected to the experience.

Students also took part in an African drumming workshop facilitated by Ibrahima Kolipe Camara, former lead drummer for Guinean national dance company, Les Ballets Africains. Camara spoke to the students about the cultural and historical significance of the music, as well as lead them through a few different rhythms.
