On August 21st, SinoVision visited the Adult Literacy Classes at CPC Queens Community Center and interviewed Mollie Korewa, CPC Adult Literacy Assistant Director, and Carlyn Cowen, Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer, about the demand for English learning classes and their impact.
Mollie and Carlyn highlighted how these classes boost students' confidence, helping them navigate different neighborhoods, apply for jobs, and connect with their communities. Despite the growing demand, funding for adult literacy programs is tightening at both the city and state levels, leading to longer waitlists and unmet needs.
