CPC Brooklyn Community Services Director Honored at Shirley Chisolm Women in Excellence Event
On March 18, 2016 Senator Jesse Hamilton awarded CPC Brooklyn Community Services Director, Wai Yee Chan with the Community Service Award during the 2nd Annual Shirley Chisolm Women in Excellence Awards. Hosted by Senator Hamilton, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo, the Shirley Chisolm Women in Excellence Awards recognizes the achievements of iconic Brooklyn women in honor of Congresswoman Shirley Chisolm, the first African-American woman elected to Congress.
Ms. Chan has worked with nonprofit organizations in NYC for more than fifteen years. In the past, she has worked closely with many community-based organizations in the field of program development, staff training and funding management. She currently serves as the Director of CPC's Brooklyn Community Services. Prior to becoming director, Ms. Chan was the director of CPC's Homecrest COMPASS program where she nurtured many students and teachers to become active members in their community. CPC is very proud of her accomplishments.
