CPC Voices Community Fears Over SNAP Rule Change

Dec

On December 2nd, City Limits published an article detailing a federal rule change that would exclude thousands of legally present immigrants from the SNAP program. Carlyn Cowen, CPC’s Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer, highlighted the anxiety these proposed changes are already causing within the community, emphasizing that families are terrified they will be unable to feed their children and that this fear is triggering mental health crises.

According to the New York Attorney General’s Office, as many as 35,000 New Yorkers across the state could lose these food benefits.
