Program Director Karl Leung Recognized as YMI Coordinator of the Year
On June 12th, Karl Leung, CPC LEAD (Learn. Excel. Advocate. Dream) Program Director at the High School for Dual Language and Asian Studies, received the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development's Young Men's Initiative (YMI) Award in recognition of his exceptional communication and his outstanding work throughout the entire program year.
He stood out as one of the two individuals awarded the title of YMI Coordinator of the Year. Among the 30 Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) participating in the YMI program this year, Karl stood out as one of the two individuals awarded the title of YMI Coordinator of the Year.
The DYCD YMI program aims to address disparities faced by young men of color. Our CPC mentors provide guidance, college readiness support, tutoring, and college preparation assistance to high school students.
Karl and his team, led by Virginie, have made a significant impact on the lives of 24 community members from November to June 2023. Other CPC mentors in the team included: Megan, Raihan, and Richard.
