CPC Hosts Second AAPI Reception at SOMOS Conference
On November 9th, CPC and 25 partner organizations hosted the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Reception at Somos Conference in Puerto Rico. The conference aims to unite Latinx communities and raise social and public policy awareness across New York State and beyond.
It brought together over 200 community, labor, legislative, and business leaders, including Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Comptroller Tom DiNapoli NY, Mayor Eric Adams, Manhattan Borough President Mark D. Levine, AAPI trailblazers Sharon Lee, first Asian American borough president, Assembly Member-elect Grace Lee, Council Member Sandra Ung, Senators Jamaal Bailey, Leroy Comrie, Robert Jackson, and Brian Kavanagh; Assembly Members Nily Rozic, Al Taylor, Khaleel Anderson, and Anna Kelles; and Council Members Eric Dinowitz, Rita Joseph, Lynn Schulman, Diana Ayala, and Gale Brewer; and Department for the Aging Commissioner Lorraine Cortes-Vasquez.
CPC presented Community Champion Awards to Congresswoman Grace Meng, Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou, and Council Members Shekar Krishnan and Linda Lee during the conference.
