Flushing Community Advisory Group Deliberates on Community Challenges and Solutions
On January 7th, members of the public and the Flushing Community Advisory Group, part of the Flushing Mobility LABs Collaborative, met to deliberate on community issues and to propose possible solutions. Challenges in education, jobs, health, housing, immigrant rights, justice, and community development were the focus of this discussion group. The group will also advise on a community research survey tool, decide on issues of focus, and make recommendations for a solution to implement.
Through the generous support of Robin Hood, CPC launched the Flushing Mobility LABs Initiative in September with co-leading organizations Asian Americans for Equality, the Child Center of NY, Queens Public Library, MinKwon Center for Community Action, and RIVER FUND. This initiative is a nine-month planning grant to conduct research and develop a community-centered plan to combat poverty and promote economic mobility in Flushing.
