On September 23, 2019, NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer and NYS Senator Brad Hoylman visited CPC Jacob Riis Early Childhood Center to meet with CPC staff, parents, and children. CPC had the opportunity to share our expertise and recommendations on how to strengthen early childhood education in New York City.

During the roundtable, the Comptroller presented the "NYC Under 3" proposal that aims to make quality child care more affordable and accessible for NYC families with infant and toddlers.

CPC staff and parents discussed how to:

  • Expand affordability of child care programs for low-income families
  • Increase access through expansion grants and capital funding to support the construction and renovation of child care facilities
  • Improve the quality of child care programs through salary parity, professional development, and scholarship opportunities

CPC thanks Comptroller Stringer and Senator Hoylman for meeting with our parents to hear their concerns and ideas to improve the child care field in NYC.
