CPC Statement on the Passage of the Tax Bill

Dec

Message from the President & CEO of CPC

Dear Friends,

The Senate and House both passed their tax bill for sweeping cuts and tax code revisions today.  This tax bill represents a huge blow to the communities being served by the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC).

The bill raises taxes on many low- and middle-income Americans, and it repeals the individual mandate on health insurance, increasing premiums and leaving millions without coverage. The bill automatically triggers cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and other major components of the social safety net unless Congress steps in to prevent them.

For nonprofit organizations like CPC, this means that even more New Yorkers will need the services we provide while the resources to provide those services become more scarce.

CPC remains committed to promoting the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant and low-income communities.  Now is the time to double our efforts on not only our social services work but also our social change work as we advocate for policies that protect and empower our communities.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we advance our community together during these complicated times.

Sincerely,
WayneSignature
