Bill Yeung Named to City & State’s Inaugural “Unsung Heroes” List

On November 10th, City & State New York published its “Unsung Heroes” list, which recognizes highly effective New Yorkers who operate largely outside of the public spotlight. Bill Yeung, CPC's Chief Operating Officer, is among the honorees. His journey with CPC began when he was a program participant, and since joining as staff in 2000, he has modernized systems, strengthened cybersecurity, and streamlined operations for the organization.

CPC Distributes Food and Information as SNAP Benefits Lapse

On November 5th, CPC organized a rapid-response food distribution event to support families affected by the ongoing pause in federal SNAP benefits and rising food costs. The event provided fresh produce, including vegetables and fruits, to more than 300 community members. CPC volunteers also shared information to help residents navigate the uncertain benefits landscape and access available support.

CPC Receives $50,000 Grant to Expand Tech Training Program

On October 30th, CPC received a $50,000 grant from the Flagstar Foundation to expand our Technology Exploration & Skills Training (TEST) program. CPC TEST is a collaborative effort with the IBM SkillsBuild platform, designed to provide community members with mentorship and tech training, along with certificates and digital credentials in Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing. The grant will help strengthen programming and expand our reach through new partnerships.

CPC Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit Raises Funds to Support Community Programs and Honor Local Leaders

On October 23rd, CPC celebrated another year of community impact at its Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit, held at New Phoenix Seafood Restaurant. The gala honored three outstanding community leaders and raised funds for CPC's Brooklyn initiatives, which positively impact over 20,000 Brooklyn residents every day. The three honorees are Justin Brannan, Council Member of District 47; Chau Trinh-Shevrin, DrPH, Director of the Division of Health and Behavior at NYU Langone; and Arnold Gottlieb, Assistant Principal of the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School.
