What are the symptoms of HIV?
Early symptoms time of the HIV infection may be mild and easily dismissed. Even without any noticeable symptoms it is still possible to pass and infect the virus onto others. Therefore, it is important to know if you have HIV.
Below are all of the following symptoms that may appear in an HIV positive person:
Early Symptoms
- Flu and Cold like symptoms:
Fever and night sweats, headaches, lack of energy, and infections. - Skin rashes or skin sores:
Rashes are the most common symptom of HIV. Once HIV positive, a person’s skin becomes extremely sensitive to irritants and sunlight. - Swollen lymph node glands:
Swollen lymph node glands, an indication that our immune system is trying to fight the HIV virus, is often one of the first signs of HIV. HIV Positive individuals may have swollen glands for several months. - Menstrual Changes
- Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

- Diarrhea
- Nausea and Vomiting
- Weight Loss
- Joint Pain
- Muscle aches
- Chronic cough
