2019 CPC Service Star Award, CPC Community Health Services
CPC’s Community Health Services (CHS) enriches community members’ lives through health programs and services that educate, inspire and empower healthy outcomes. CHS is a comprehensive resource for our community, including prevention services through outreach, education/awareness, health advocacy, community networking, as well as the provision of referrals and linkage to care to improve health outcomes to individuals infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
Community Health Services is also dedicated to educating and empowering AAPI youth through the PREP (Personal Responsibility Education Program). This highly effective youth health education and HIV prevention program uses an evidence-based curriculum from the NYC Department of Health that affects multiple behaviors to achieve positive health impacts. PREP also runs workshops on financial literacy, healthy relationships, healthy life skills, and advocacy. Youth walk out of the program with skills to think critically about nuanced and complex health issues, and the framework to advocate for their rights.
CPC’s Community Health Services is recognized with this award not only because of its advocacy on behalf of marginalized community members, but also because of its commitment to promoting equal opportunities and access to healthcare, ending HIV/AIDS myths and stigma, spreading community awareness, and advocating for the visibility, empowerment, and rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.
