Respite Coordinator

Position Title: Respite Coordinator
Location: 133-14 41st Avenue, 7th Floor, Flushing, NY 11355
Schedule: Full-Time

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide recreational, educational and habilitative activities to individuals with developmental disabilities.
    • Recreation includes arts and crafts, singing and dancing.
    • Education includes financial literacy (coin/dollar recognition).
    • Habilitation includes skills of daily living such as basic food preparation (example: sandwiches), proper hygiene (example: handwashing) and community safety.
  • Lead individuals with developmental disabilities on community outings, for example trips to malls, museums and parks.
  • Provide cultural programming to individuals with developmental disabilities including Lunar New Year festivities, Thanksgiving celebrations and Halloween Trick-or-Treating.
  • Foster healthy and meaningful communication and socialization among individuals with developmental disabilities including appropriate greetings, respect for personal space and social etiquette.
  • Partner with parents/caregivers to promote the growth of their children with developmental disabilities.
  • Document service provision as per regulations and policy of New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bilingual in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) and English.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Experience with health promotion and the arts including basic physical exercise and dance.

 

Compensation:
Commensurate with experience.
