Intern - SAPDD

This position serves developmental disabled individuals and their families of Asian immigrant background with low-income, limited or non-English speakers, educationally disadvantaged, and has serious cultural barriers. The nature of the work is to assist the SAPDD service coordinator to provide social services and coordination to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.  Another component is to help the service coordinator on the weekends set up fun recreational activities and parties for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Hours: at least 2 or 3 days per week. Must be available on weekends. Weekdays are flexible.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Provide assistance to the service coordinator in weekday caseloads.

·         Attend outreaches with service coordinator to spread awareness of SAPDD programs.

·         Help service coordinator plan weekend recreational activities.

·         Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in weekend activities.

·         Coordinate weekend outdoor field trips.

·         Ensure the safety of all the individuals.

·         Must be able to work independently and participate as a team player. 

 

Qualifications:

College-level with the interest to pursue in human services, social services, or related fields. Some capacity and knowledge to work with developmentally disabled population. Candidates must possess excellent oral communication, interpersonal, writing, and organizational skills. Some travel required. Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus but not required.
