CPC Open Door Senior Center Fosters Intergenerational Connections Through Workshops

On June 13th, CPC Open Door Senior Center partnered with the Sara Roosevelt Park Community Coalition to host a poetry and drama workshop, connecting individuals from different age groups through shared experiences and creative expression. The event welcomed 10 students aged 12-14, accompanied by their teachers from Avenues School. The students participated in meaningful conversations with older adults in Mandarin and engaged in a guessing game, where they conveyed messages through body language and facial expressions.

CPC Teams Up with Local Partners to Provide Affordable Vegetables for the Community

On June 13th, CPC teamed up with local partners in the Harvest Share program that aims to promote healthier eating habits and foster a tighter-knit community. Every week, starting from June 13th until October 31st, participants can pick up farm-fresh crops at Brooklyn Grange at reduced prices.

Brooklyn Older Adult Center Celebrates Father's Day with Food and Entertainment

On June 14th, CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center hosted a heartwarming Father's Day celebration, bringing together over 230 community members and supporters. The event took place at Park Asia restaurant, where attendees enjoyed a delightful meal and performances by our older adult services teams.

Carlyn Cowen is Named in City and State's 2023 Power of Diversity: Pride 100 

On June 19th, City & State NY published the "2023 Power of Diversity: Pride 100" list, and CPC's Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer, Carlyn Cowen, was named number 82. This list celebrates leaders who are actively championing LGBTQ+ rights and making a difference in our community.
