CPC Beacon Center Partners with Bay Ridge Volleyball Club to Boost Youth Volleyball Skills

CPC Beacon Center has partnered with the Bay Ridge Volleyball Club to provide top-notch volleyball training to local youth. Through this 3-month partnership, students were able to improve their skills and secure a place on their school teams. With an average attendance of 20-30 students per session, the program has given many beginners the opportunity to experience the sport for the first time while also fostering their teamwork skills in a secure environment.

VNS Health Empowers Hong Ning Housing Older Adults Through Tai Chi

On April 17th, VNS Health hosted a Tai Chi class for Hong Ning Housing older adults. The class focused on improving their posture and breathing while introducing basic self-defense moves. Participants partnered up and practiced these moves with each other, and many of them shared that they felt more confident in safeguarding themselves against potential dangers and were emboldened after learning these new skills.

Brooklyn Community Center Unveils Rooftop Garden in Celebration of Earth Day

On April 22nd, CPC Brooklyn Senior Services celebrated Earth Day with the opening of the rooftop garden. Members of the community gathered to partake in the planting of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. The garden was made possible through a joint effort between the center and our partners, which included NYU Langone, Brooklyn Grange, and Earth Matters.

CPC Holds 6th Annual City Advocacy Day for an Inclusive Budget

On April 27th, CPC held our 6th Annual City Advocacy Day, uniting over 500 community members and elected officials to advocate for policy and budget priorities that prioritize the needs of Asian American, immigrant, and low-income New Yorkers, who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. This year, CPC's priority issues include raising wages for City-contracted human services workers to $21/hour and implementing an annual Cost of Living Adjustment, expanding the AAPI Community Support initiative by allocating $7.5 million in resources to community-based organizations, among other important issues.
